Testing Requirements

Full Time Police Officer Description

Qualified persons are invited to apply to the Edgewood Borough Civil Service Commission to take a competitive examination which will lead to the establishment of an eligibility list for appointment as a Full-Time Patrolman for the Edgewood Borough Police Department.

General Requirements:

1.  Must be 21 years old before the deadline for submitting completed applications.
2.  Possess a diploma from an accredited high school or a Graduate Equivalence Diploma (GED).
3.  Possess a four year post-secondary education, or three years’ experience in a law enforcement agency. 4) Be Act 120 Certified under the Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Act (Act 120), or shall have successfully completed Act 120 Training and successfully passed the final exam, thus being eligible for Act 120 Certification.
5.  Be a U.S. Citizen.
6.  Be deemed physically and mentally fit to perform the essential duties of a police officer.
7.  Possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
8.  Successful applicants.  Starting salary: $55,924. Increase to $79,892 year six.  Offers retirement, medical, and comprehensive benefits package   

Successful applicants must meet all requirements of the Borough’s Civil Service Rules & Regulations, including passing a background investigation, and if selected for employment, be required to successfully pass a physical and psychological examination and must take up residence within fifteen (15) air miles of Edgewood Borough limits within six months following expiration of his/her probationary period.   Applications & $50.00 non-refundable application fee due at the Borough Building by 3:00 pm on Friday, June 7, 2019.   Examination Date: June 18, 2019; 10 am @ Allegheny County Police Academy. Physical agility testing starts @ 10 am, arrive by 9:30 am.  A written test will be administered immediately following the physical agility test only to those who pass the physical agility test.

Recreation and Community Engagement Coordinator  

This part time employee will perform administrative, supervisory and professional work in the planning, development and operation of a comprehensive public recreation program for the Borough under the direct supervision of the Borough Manager.  The employee will also serve as the point of contact for community organizations and assist the Borough Manager with borough events

Seasonal Summer Help Needed

Edgewood Borough Public Works is hiring seasonal summer help employees for general labor and miscellaneous duties, up to 40 hours per week.  College bound or college student preferred.  Applications are available at Employment Application .  Please return completed applications to Rob Zahorchak, Borough Manager, Edgewood Borough 2 Race Street Pittsburgh, PA 15218.

The Edgewood Police Department is accepting applications for a Crossing Guard. Interested candidates should fill out an application and deliver it to the Edgewood Municipal Building located at 2 Race Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15218, Attention Chief Robert Payne.

 Applications are also available at the municipal building. 

Edgewood Volunteer Fire Department

The Edgewood Volunteer Fire Department is accepting applications for membership. Applications can be obtained at the Edgewood Borough Building 2 Race St. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. For additional information contact Steven Halle, Fire Chief @ 412-242-9994.
