We appreciate your interest in the police department and continued support throughout the community in which we serve. Our members value the strong relationship that exists between our agency and the citizens of the Borough of Edgewood.

The Edgewood Police Department is a full time law enforcement agency that provides police services to the residents and visitors of the Borough of Edgewood 24 hours a day throughout the year. The department consists of fourteen sworn law enforcement officers, including the Chief of Police. The officers rotate throughout the day on three separate eight hour shifts answering calls for service, conducting traffic enforcement and patrolling the community. The police department is housed within the Edgewood Borough building, located at 2 Race Street, Edgewood, Pennsylvania 15218.

The current Chief of Police is Robert C. Payne. Chief Payne oversees the day to day operations of the police department and is responsible for many of the decisions associated with the effective operation of the department. Together, this staff represents over 70 years of police experience.

Edgewood police officers are dispatched to calls through the Allegheny County 911 Center. The department also works closely with the Emergency Services Department.  These emloyees are all trained firefighters who can respond to any fire department emergency. They also perform many of the daily administrative tasks for the police department. The Emergency Services Department is staffed Monday through Friday from 8:00AM until 10:30PM.

The Edgewood Police Department is also responsible for the assignment of school crossing guards throughout the school year. The crossing guards are used during the morning, lunchtime and after school hours at several busy locations. The crossing guards help to maintain the safety of many children on their way to and from school each day. They also aid with other pedestrian traffic.
